Exhibition and Conference at Hamburger Containerboard Dunaújváros

On the 20th October 2021, the Hungarian Paper Museum and Hamburger Hungaria’s Visitor Centre celebrated the fifth anniversary. On this occasion, a temporary exhibition entitled  “Paper and Environment” was opened at the Hungarian Paper Museum, Hamburger Hungaria organised a successful professional conference in this topic and the Museum created 3 further temporary exhibitions:  “ “The Paper Memories of the 70-year-old Dunaújváros” exhibition + the Jubilee Exhibition of Paper Sculptor Erzsébet M. Sarlós + an exhibition presenting the five years of the facility's activity.

At the conference on Paper and Environment, Dr. Gyula Zilahy, Professor at the Budapest University of Technology, spoke about the modern environmental solutions for the paper industry. After that György Szilas,  Production Manager at Hamburger Hungaria, presented the water protection activities of the 4 paper mills at the Danube, basing on their joint online brochure published for the World Water Day (22 March 2021)  in cooperation with the Technical Association of the Paper and Printing Industry. Finally Adrien P-Holl, Chief Restorer at the Budapest Archives, gave an interesting presentation on the relationship between environmental protection and paper conservation.

At the event, the admirers of Dr. Zoltán Szikla had the opportunity to listen a touching commemoration on Zoltán's work for the paper industry. Miklós Galli, former President and CEO at Dunapack, and Attila Bencs, General Manager at HCB Dunaújváros praised Zoltán's conscientious work for the Hungarian paper industry and for the Prinzhorn Group, followed by Professor Csaba Horváth, who spoke about Zoltán's scientific work, which is still well known not only in Hungary, but in Finland as well.
