Added Fuel Sorting Plant

With significant environmental impact

We are pleased to inform you that installation work of the new fuel sorting plant with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year has started at Hamburger Hungaria’s site. (The first column was set up on 7 February 2022.) The EUR 40 million investment is scheduled for January 2023.  This expansion will double the capacity of the Hungarian Power Plant's combustible waste preparation system.

The new plant will process not only paper machine rejects and sludge generated on site, but also other industrial and municipal sorted waste (RDF). The investment will halve the share of coal in the power plant's fuel mix, so its environmental impact will be very significant. On the one hand, for every unit of thermal input provided by waste-based fuel instead of coal, the company reduces the power plant's carbon dioxide emissions by cca. 30 - 40% and on the other hand, the waste prepared here is used for energy recovery instead of being buried in landfills.
