Experts from Dunapack’s packaging plants in Dunavarsány, Nyíregyháza, and Csepel visited Hamburger Containerboard's paper mill in Dunaújváros to gain deeper insights into the Prinzhorn Group’s circular economy and recycling processes in Hungary.
During the visit, participants explored how collected recovered cardboard is transformed into new paper on a paper machine over 100 meters long—using increasingly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.
A highlight of the tour was the mill’s integrated power plant, which not only supplies the electricity and heat required for production but also converts production by-products and previously unusable waste into energy—minimizing landfill impact.
Water used in production is continuously recycled and purified, with biogas generated in the process and reused as a source of green energy. In line with the company’s sustainability goals, large sections of the facility are already equipped with solar panels.
A practical example of circular economy in action—and especially timely as we mark Global Recycling Day today, highlighting the importance of recycling and resource efficiency in our everyday operations.
