The Evangelical Epiphany Church of Gelsenkirchen Horst has been collecting waste paper in Gelsenkirchen for 23 years quarterly. Normally up to 20 - 30 tons of waste paper (newspapers and cardboard) accumulate here.
Young people and volunteers collect waste paper in the neighborhood, from companies, private households and social institutions, as a social event. This was done on Saturday 29th of August. One container after the other was filled with waste paper and the young people enthusiastically and diligently collected the enormous amount of 19.3 tons. Through these actions, strong relationships within the community and the town have been established and grown over the past years.
With the help of our partners we have provided containers for this event and will process the waste paper to our production. We will refund the collected amount and also provide a certain amount as a donation.
The money will benefit the church community, the young people and their institutions. This includes work with children and young people, church recreation, renovations / refurbishments and celebrations in the youth facilities.
We are happy to be part of a good cause in our neighborhood.
